Tough conditions

The weather has taken a change for the worse and we deliberated on whether to ski but then thought what the hell. So bus ride to Kaprun it was and then the gondaler up. It was not looking good with thick cloud and some rain in the valley. At the 2nd cable car (c.2,000ms) it was still not looking good with 10m visibility max. At 2,500 same again and then suddenly at 2,700ms patches of blue sky appeared.

Up top (with the visibility good) is where we pretty much stayed. I was though still worried that one of the boys would get taken out by a dreaded snowboarder or a dodgy (most likely British) skier. Fact: the Brits are hopeless skiers even the ones that think they are good.

Post a quick lunch we cut the day short as the visibility was getting worse the higher up and did not want to chance losing one the boys at 3,000ms knowing how quickly conditions can change in the mountains.

Post getting home I squeezed in a run feeling good before taking the boys swimming. The run was actually surprisingly good and a million times better than yesterday. The plan was for an easy jog but feeling guilty for copping out yesterday I just went with the flow running down from 4.20s to 3.50s to finish with 11ks in 4.02s. Very seldom do I actually feel like a runner. Most of the time it is sheer effort dragging my 80kg backside around but today was somehow different and a bit of a confidence booster.
