Day 1 NYC - action packed: Central Station, Time Sq, TotR, MOMA....

One of those days where everything fell into place.

Up at 5 am with jet lag:

1. 7am out the door
2. Walked to the lower east side where I worked in the summer of 94 as a 19 year old chatting to some of the locals. Back in the day pre gentrification the lower east side was a no go zone. The Boys Brotherhood Republic (BBR) is still operating as a shelter today for the under privileged kids who grow up in the surrounding red brick projects. Being there brought back a massive amount of memories.
3. Ate brekkie at Katz Deli where Harry met Sally (literally). It's a must for a NYC brekkie as we devoured hotdogs, cream cheese bagels, pastrami sandwiches (with enough meat to feed half of Africa) and plenty more.
4. Took subway uptown to Central Station. Boys loved this playing out the scene from Madagascar.
5. Times Square (shops, too many)
6. NY public library also pretty cool
7. Top of the rock @ the Rockefeller - stunning 360 degrees blue skies
8. 5th Avenue (more shops)
9. The Burger Joint at the Parker Meridien Hotel - the best in town
10. Friday nights for free at MOMA (seeing Van Gough, Picasso, Matisse takes the breath away). I told the boys that they were in a room with $1bn worth of art. Jack's response was to roll up the freebie poster and scream 'penis' in all of his brother's ears. This was the final straw for Jacqueline.
11. Home via Soho and Kendrick Lemar's new pop up.
12. Dinner at the Soho Grand. One of Jacqueline's and my old haunts.

Main shopping:
- Nintendo for Tommy
- Nike Town and anything sneaker related for Lucas and Jack
 - Lego land for Ryder (on that he got called a girl 3 times today which amused his brothers no end).

Reckon we walked 15k today easy and it was absolutely baking. I can handle hot weather but today was stifling.

Pretty epic day despite NO RUN.

* Jack has perfected his American yuppie girl accent. It was good before we left but surrounded by a zillion of them in the MOMA it's gone up a notch.
