Home

Up at 6.30 to leave at 7.15 post Boulangerie and petrol stop. Then hammered it up to Calais in 5 hrs and 15 minutes making it only 9.25 hours of diving from Bidart to Calais.

Next year we must remember to disregard the Satnav at Rouen and NOT go through the city. Reckon this held us up by 20 or so minutes otherwise would have been less than 9.

Then the Dread of the Eurotunnel. We arrived in good time at 1.30, were booked on the 3.30 but did not leave until 5.  It also presented the best and worst of little England. First of all the waiting area looked like a freak show but even before that we had a full on argument with a couple after they refused to let us in. We were blatantly in front converging from 2 lanes into 1. J was driving so I quipped at the driver followed by him threatening to knock my head off if J ran into his wing mirror which I am very pleased to report she did before he wife literally got out of the car before banging her fists on J's window.  I was ready to self explode at that point.

In the wait though we chatted with a super friendly (normal) family, not little Britian, not stuck up and sat in a 100k Range Rover but just bloody normal.

Oh boy. Work looks completely nuts as well as is going to be relentless from the off next week with a severe backlog on my part. The coping mechanism will be the ride in and home. I checked out some unbelievable bikes in the Bidart bike shops and came across the new Giant range which looks unbelievably good.
