Wednesday Solo. 85kms

Up at 5am to leave at 6 for 3 hours of solo riding pre work enjoying the Tank. Rode the route into work then along the cycle highway on the Embankment and onto Richmond followed by a lap of Richmond Park with the sun rising. Rode the Fulham Thames cycle path on the gravel too and that is where the cyclocross bike gives you the added freedom and comes into its own. I love it.

With all the deer around and the countryside looking lanes it's insane to think that it's still central London .

Rode back along the Thames past the Houses of Parliament taking great pleasure in passing all the carbon fibre commuters on my thick tyres Tank. At my desk by 930 with no one the wiser that I'd covered a large chunk of London Town.

Come the arvo though I was desperately tired and on struggle street with the heat on at work and no let up in sight as we had a client function in the evening. It was at Hisapnia, the leading Spanish restaurant in London just around the corner from the Bank of England. I hit it off with the head of the leading Spanish law firm. Prestigious doode in his 70s but still going strong and great chat. I always enjoy talking to older folks.

After many Riojas I walked back past St Pauls marvelling at its sheer size before swapping my suit with Lycra and doing the dreaded ride home in the dark. It got worse as my lights ran of out gas which meant I was riding tipsy with no lights all the way back home. Never good and not to be repeated.

A 17hr day and 85kms. Massive.
