29 December tempo

Strecky picked me up and we stumbled up to North Head to meet the crew. All very talented runners with Ben and I by far the slowest. In fact they are all so good that are all capable of running a sub 2.30 marathon.

Ben and I decided on a 10k tempo and Ben was talking initially about 3.50s but given the temperature  was already well into the 30s we revised to 4s. We stuck together but then we both started cooking and finished with 4.03s. I reckon that was equivalent to 3.45s in normal conditions.

In fact the elite runners also pulled the pin at 11k instead of their planned 16k. It was never realistic.
Quick dip in the ocean at S Steyne and coffee before meeting J to drink more coffee.  Solid hit out.

Packed the boys off to their aunties in the late morning and J and I were all alone. Combined yoga with another jog / swim and then dinner at Hugo's which did not turn out as could not get a table so got takeaway and hung our feet over the Wharf instead. Much better as Hugo's was heaving!
