England win the Ashes in the Eurotunnel

So almost within 2 days England win the 4th test and win back the Ashes - that makes it 5 out of 7 series. It feels almost like an anti climax and Australia were just as woeful as England were in the World Cup. It goes to show how fickle sport is. The Aussies are a powerful sporting nation and will no doubt come back strong. England beware.

The Premiership starts today and with that the most important competition known to man, the Mediocre.

My predictions:

1. Palace to finish in top spot with Cabaye pulling the strings and finish 9th in the Prem. In fact we will have it won by April which means the lads can shout me beers post the London Marathon which falls on my 42nd birthday.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNsE52eH1wA

2. The Hammers in 10th. Emotional rollercoaster with Bilic at the helm as they battle for the prize to gurantee Premiership footie at the Olympic stadium next year.

*On that note, I am peeved that they managed to secure the Olympic legacy at a rediculously low price and at the expense of London tax payers. The upshot of it all is that the iconic Crystal Palace athletics stadium will be ripped up as by keeping the Olympics athletics track Seb Coe and his band of merry men  have fulfilled their athletics legacy pledge.  It makes no sense and now South London has no venue. The reality is that the London Olympics has not positively helped athletics in any way, it has made it positively worse. I ran at the Palace many times and saw some of the greats, Carl Lewis, Bubka and Coe, Cram, Ovett plus a bunch more. A real shame.

3. Stoke to finish 11th in the Prem with Mark Hughes sacked along the way.

4. Villa to finish in 15th. I don't rate their manager one bit. Great win today though.

5. Newcastle will they survive and qualify for the Mediocre next year? That is the question!

No time for running this week after a truly horrendous 5 days in the office working around the clock though today I did manage to squeeze in a delightful saunter down La Somme for 13kms in 4.30s.  The sun was going down and you could hear a pin drop, there was literally no one around.  A great way to destress and rid the body of the mist that tends to follow me around for the first few days of holidays.  Here is the Strava map: ttps://www.strava.com/activities/364346583

We are staying in Abbeville which was a 'Depart' location for this year's TdeF - a nice place.

Tomorrow we head further south, direction Biarritz for 2 weeks surfing (and more running hopefully).

  1. Sammy Aggers, ....and i thought you knew your football? what a load of codswallop you write. Although i'm no longer in the Mediocre (in the interest of fair play) your comments do make me larfffff.
Just for the record i'll give you the running order on how the teams will end come May 2016
    1. Stoke - 6th with our 3 Dutchman and 4 Ex Barca players led by Bojan pulling the strings Euro is where we'll be heading next season, and with our final piece of the jigsaw overnight in Shaqiri a top 4 would NOT surprise.
    2. West Ham 11th - Will start of in premiership form but the bubble will burst once the Xmas decorations come down and will finish mid table.
    3. Tin Pot Palace 13th - signing of the year in Cabaye that will at least see premiership footy next season at Selhurst that will keep the failthful 'glad all over'
    4. Newcastle 15th - Never a dull moment up North, only guarantee will be the Mad Geordies will be holding 'McClaren OUT' signs up come Xmas.
    5. Aston Villa 16th - May have to call Tony Morley & Graham Shaw up to help them stay out of the relegation battle over the Easter break.

BTW, Will be looking for a quiet place to relax before next year's London Marathon on the Saturday ..... any chance you can get me a ticket to the Palace vs Norwich game ?
    Cheers
