Merci La France, à bientôt (Saintes to home)

Jacqui woke me early and we quickly bought some goodies at the Boulangerie across the road before hitting the 7 hour drive northwards towards Calais.

Lots to ponder on the way home as I embark on a crazy travel schedule over the next few weeks and Tommy also starts Secondary school (he is ready) and Jack starts his third school in 12 months as he switches to the local Highfield school where Tommy and Lucas were last year. Jack is always quick to make friends and will no doubt take it in his stride, same with Trailblazer Tommy. It's been tough moving them back to the UK but taking them out of their comfort zones has made them resilient little people.

Jacqui's holiday highlight was the Semana Grande festival in San Sebastian and I would tend to agree - I have never experienced anything like it. For me though it was the boys spending more time in the water after the week we had in Mauritius in May and Tommy and Jack rebonding. When they were younger they were inseparable (reason why Jack's sports have benefitted so much) but having gone to different schools last year and Jack's copious amount of football they haven't hung out a great deal. I have really fond memories of them messing around in the water together. Jack will join Tommy at Secondary school next year.  I managed to take a few pix of them with my proper Canon camera which I have yet to download. The Gopro also took amazing pix of the boys surfing.

Jacqui's food highlights were 1. the squid at the Guétary restaurant and 2. the moules in St Jean De Luz.

The lows were definitely the screaming matches involving Satnav on the route down :)

Pix below from the Boulangerie, Jacqueline almost overtaking a Ferrari and the new fencing at the Tunnel Terminal at Calais (Europe's new Berlin Wall) - we begged the lady for an earlier train but there were migrants blocking a train in the tunnel!

Finally, thank goodness for the insane Usain who beat Gatlin in the 100ms -everyone including me had written him off. We all screamed from the car. And pin up girl Jessica Ennis winning gold 12 months post giving birth is nothing short of incredible.
